The first step in finding out is to SCHEDULE YOUR FREE PREGANCY TEST  today.

Positive Test, Now What?

After taking a pregnancy test and receiving positive results, your next step at ChloeCare is to schedule a free ultrasound. An ultrasound is a safe and painless procedure that uses sound waves to create an image of the inside of your body, including your uterus and fetus. An ultrasound helps confirm your pregnancy, providing important information that includes gestational age, and determines where the pregnancy is located. Continue scrolling to learn more about why ultrasounds are important and essential to your overall health and wellbeing.

Schedule an ultrasound

Even if you’re uncertain about your next steps of your pregnancy, an ultrasound will provide vital information you need to make an informed, empowered decision. It gives you two key pieces of information about your pregnancy: viability and gestational age.

What is a viable pregnancy?

A viable pregnancy means that, in the early stages, growth and development are progressing as expected. For many people, this includes detecting an embryo’s heartbeat by ultrasound at around 6 weeks of gestation.

Understanding viability is important because a significant number of pregnancies end naturally in miscarriage. An ultrasound also helps confirm that the pregnancy is located inside the uterus. In rare cases, a pregnancy develops outside the uterus — most commonly in a fallopian tube — which is known as an ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancies require immediate medical care.

If an ultrasound shows a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy, the pregnancy is not viable, and standard abortion procedures like the abortion pill are no longer part of the medical options moving forward.

What is gestational age?

Gestational age refers to how far along you are in your pregnancy. This information helps you determine what options and next steps are available to you. Sometimes you can determine how far along you are in pregnancy by using a Pregnancy Calculator, based on your last period, but an ultrasound uses technical measurements of the embryo or fetus to  give the most accurate information.

No matter where you are in your planned or unplanned pregnancy, you are not alone. Consider receiving a free ultrasound at ChloeCare. If your ultrasound shows that you’re beyond the timeframe for the abortion pill, our compassionate client advocates will walk with you through all of your pregnancy options so you can make the choice that supports your health and your future.
